Description
British Alpaca Duvets are simply the best for a wonderful night’s sleep!
Our 100% Alpaca All-Year All Season Duvets offer the ultimate in comfort for a great night’s sleep – whatever the weather, the same alpaca duvet will keep you warm in the winter and cool in the summer.
You only need one alpaca duvet to do all this, there is no need for a thick duvet or to put two together for winter use. Our alpaca duvets are of medium weight and this provides fabulous comfort, working with your internal thermostat to keep you at a comfortable temperature all night – whether it’s hot or cold outside!
How does it do all this? The properties of alpaca fleece are such that it is temperature reactive – so it will keep you warm in the winter and cool in the summer (just like it does for the animals!). The reason it is temperature reactive is because alpaca fleece is naturally moisture repellent and highly breathable – it traps warm air, and stays dry by letting moisture escape.
Alpaca fibre is naturally anti-allergenic/hypoallergenic. The cool and dry environment created with the use of alpaca fibre makes it difficult for dust mites to live and breed. Our duvets are the perfect choice for sufferers of allergies, such as asthma.
Alpaca duvets work well where partners have different temperature requirements – keeping you both at your optimum temperature.
We do not use tog ratings for alpaca duvets as it is not a relevant measure for them, because of the temperature reactive nature of alpaca, it is, in effect, whatever tog you need it to be!
We make our duvets at a medium weight. You do not need a heavy duvet for winter use and equally it is light enough for the spring and summer.
Alpaca duvets are very different to sheep wool duvets. Sheep’s wool is not naturally temperature reactive, or hypoallergenic, so you need one or two duvets of varying thickness to do the temperature control for you.
Every year, on our Alpaca farm, our alpacas are sheared and their wonderful fleece is processed into a range of products. Our duvets are professionally made by a British manufacturer – there is nothing but alpaca fibre in our duvets – we do not mix in other fibres such as sheep’s wool or synthetics.
The high-quality, white, natural cotton cover has a high thread count and the fleece inside will not escape out through it. The zig-zag stitching across the duvet ensures that the fleece inside does not shift around. The edges are re-enforced and stitched in such a way as to ensure the fibres do not migrate out.
Each of our alpaca duvets comes complete in its own cotton bag which makes a great storage sack for all sorts!

It was not my first choice, but it should have been. I have had my Alpaca duvet for about 8 months now. The outcome is this duvet exceeded my expectations. Here are the best points. 1. It is lighter on the bed than you might think. Lighter than a winter Duck feather duvet, but heavier than a Goose down duvet. It feels nothing like a bed made up with blankets. It does not trap you in one position as blankets do. 2. It really does have an even warmth. My feet are always warm now when in bed, the bed socks are no longer required. 3. It lays flat and has no cold draughty bits to be plumped out. Making it feel very cosy and relaxing. 4. It is cruelty free. 5. For a centrally heated, well insulated home, I have not been cold. The coldest outside temperature so far has been -4c. 6. It stayed on the bed for most of summer. Only when we got to 23c overnight did it get taken off. 7. It is very well made, the edges are very firmly done. 8. Its British Alpaca wool.

I had already bought a pillow from the Alpaca Shop and was very happy with it, so they were the logical choice for me to buy a new quilt. I am delighted with this product. It is very well made and feels lovely. I really notice the temperature regulating quality of the alpaca wool filling. The company are also very friendly to communicate with. I would buy from them again without hesitation. Thank you!
